Typoclub Salzburg

Presenting to you open:type

What would an event in the context of experimental typography look like?

The Typoclub's first event — open:type — was just that, a collaborative gathering organised by students of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (FH Salzburg). A new local creative initiative was born, the Typoclub Salzburg. Their typographic event was addressed to everyone who would like to get involved with the subject of letters and writing in an experimental way. Or also: A cozy evening where creativity can be given full scope on all available materials.

In preparation to the event it was essential to take care of several organisational and artistic tasks. This included the digital and analog creation of logos, posters, social media posts and a rough structure for the evening. It was an ambition to reduce new acquisitions of any materials as much as possible. Thus the decision was made to ask printing firms and hardware stores for left-over paper and painting materials. Thanks to a variety of sponsors it was possible to acquire a whole lot of materials covering all of our needs for the event.

The outcome of the projected evening was overwhelming and inspires to continue this event in the future.
